A v4 isnt likely to read rw's
This really isnt effected by the modchip its all up to the laser

correction. it only loads backup grames on CDRs
when i use originals and dvdrw it goes to the browse/menu.
no red screen.

whats 'special' abotu v4 lasers? other versions older and newer do read them.

do you mean dvd-r or -rw only newer ps2's will read dvd-rw's -rw's have a lower reflectivity than dvd-r's. try verbatim burned at 1x should work if not your lasers on its way out
