M2 or DMS3?

Ok now I'm gonna appear stupid, but what the hell!!!

Can someone please explain the difference between the M2 chip and the DMS3 chip and can someone tell me where to get these at the best price.

well lets see messiah 2 is a well rounded chip that doesn't have extra features that dms3 has. Prices would be about 50-60 bucks for messiah 2 and 70 for dms3

Ummm.. It's the DMS3 that has the extra features..

Both chips are really good..

But the DMS3 chip can:

Be upgraded to new ROM version with a CD-R
Run small (not many exist yet) applications on memory card
Take out Macrovision on DVD movies

I think that's it, but the upgradable part is a big thing. The M2 v1.30 had problems running silver disks, but they queitly fixed the problem... So some v1.30 chips have this problem and some don't. And the only way to get this problem fixed is to get another chip that is fixed. Had the DMS3 had this problem, you could of just downloaded a patch.

yup dms3 has great features but is expensive i'd go for messiah 2 if i was cheap

I really like the extra features of the DMS3, but if you don't need them, then save some cash by buying the M2. And we mustn't forget that the DMS3 had must of the first problems fixed trough a new chip revision... So we can't really bash the M2 for that without at least bashing the DMS3 too IMO. But the flash features is really something I like to have on my PS2.
