Today i was fixing my friend's ps2 so we needed a ribbon cable for the reset/eject thing ASAP cuz he wanted to play with his ps2 ASAP so I live in Puerto Rico and I only know of one place that locally sells that stuff, PS2 speciffic so we went and i though it was gonna be 5 bucks tops and well i ask him for a ribbon cable and he says to me that the price was $20 and I was like are you for real?! and dammit $20 for a ribbon cable you gotta be kiding me and I also overheard the store owner (the one who gave me the service and the outrageous ribbon cable price) and he started talking to these guys that the ps2 repair was gonna be expensive since the laser is quite costy about 100 bucks plus service and i was like are you for real?!?! Well i was hoping to ask for a job there but now i'm thinking it twice with those armed robberies to the poor customers, i'm an honest guy and i don't think i can stand to be a part of that sh!t even thou i would like to work fixing ps2s and stuff i just woundn't like to be associated with such a dishonest store owner well guys i just had to vent, just write your opinions and stuff laterzz...

...reminds me of when I used to sell car audio. I went into a competing shop to see what his prices were and overheard a salesman saying "this is the only speaker we can get that will fit your particular car" It was either a JL or Coustic 6x9 speaker. ...any 6x9 speaker will fit a 6x9 mount...

Those ribbon cables are often pretty pricey around the place. I killed mine a few weeks back, it was cheaper and quicker (and will probably be more durable) to desolder the connectors and solder a some ribbon cable stripped from an old computer ATA cable to the mainboard and reset/power pcb.

You could always get ribbons from dead PC's people throw away too. I have picked up a few & robbed the usable parts. This a good way to have free stock on hand for those times when you might need a basic replacement part.
You never know whats being tossed to the trash, i have built a few PCs from all the parts. I have 2 free PCs i currently use for 'Guests" at my house to use.
