I there a general help thread for new users like myself I can get answers on questions of mods and things of that nature. I have modded a few xboxs and am toally in love with it,but from what I read on this site PS2 can do about the same. I would love to learn how to do this, but I am having some difficulting sifting through the threads to find anything. I currently only have a PS2 and HDloader disc no mod chip. I did read sometime ago on how to use the ME for ftp server which did work, but I did not get any listing for my HD. I would really love to see if the ps2 can be modded with no chip or softmod, but if it is not possilbe or not recommended for a n00b. Can someone please help point me in the right direction to what I should do. I wish to have my ps2 be able to play from HD, and backups. I would like to be able to ftp into to backup my games to my computer HDs. I also would like to be able to play back media avi,mp3,svcds,vcd,dvds and so on. If possible I would like to be able to play emulators any anything else it is felt I should know for a noob. Thank you anyone who can help me I very much appericated it.

everything you need to know is on this forum. yes it can be modded to play games off the HDD. Google winhiip or Hdadvance

the ps2 modding a LOT harder to mod than the XBOX. Its also very different to the XBOX. THere's no dashboard like the XBOX.

You can try some of the Scene's Affiliates. ie: exploitstation,
google: sks ps2

Not 100% true, depending what you are more familiar with. I thought the xbox was harder with all the messing around trying to find the crap for it. Could be because i got 2 bad chips. With a no mod ps2, and an exploit. I think its way more "Noob Safe" to mod a ps2.
