I am going to show you how to make your own PS2 Linux kit! Its really cheap as well. First here are a list of the required items you will need:

    Items

    1) A PS2 (V1-11) Im not sure if a V12 or V13 with HdCombo or HdConnect will work. If anyone knows please post here.

    2) A modchip, anyone with a autoboot function will work. Not sure about ones like the Duo 2 line where you have to press reset for modes due to you have to swap the dvds out in the installation process.

    3) The 2 Linux installation discs. Seeing that you really cant buy these from $ony anymore and if you could they would be expensive just search for the iso's out there in file sharing land Trust me there out there.

    4) USB keyboard and Mouse (optional but I recommend it) They say u need the official $ony ones but I went to Fry's and got a $6 USB mouse and a $5 USB keyboard and they work just as good.

    5) Memory card with at least 2mb of space. I recomend those Datel 16mb, 32mb, and 64mb cards because you'll going to still want to save your games and 2mb of 8 is a lot just for one file. But the $sony memory card works. Make sure you have nothing important on this card because the installtion will wipe it clean.

    6) A hard drive and a $sony Network Adaptor. You dont need like a 200 gig HD for this, just a 20gig one is sufficent enough to save the Linux Environment and to have enough space to save stuff. A 20 gig HD you can get for maybe $10-$20.

This is all you need to make your own Homemade PS2 Linux Kit. Very cheap compared to the Official one 119 Euros ($152.36) plus tax. Not to mention its very hard to come by these anymore.

    How to install PS2 Linux
    http://playstation2-linux.com/downlo..._ps2linux.html

** When booting the Linux Disc 1 hold the corresponding buttons upon boot until u see the blue runtime environment screen **

Linux kit using NTSC or PAL.
This is done by holding down the appropriate controller keys as follows when booting your PS2:
    Video mode Key combination
    VGA Select + L1
    NTSC Select + R1
    PAL Select + R2

Use either the PAL or NTSC depending on what console you have to boot it for installation and the first time you boot after installation. After that it will overwrite it as your default over VGA.

2)I don't think the install will work with a swap, even if you insert the swap dvd before the second disc, you just have to try...

The official PAL linux kit is still available, and its price has just been lowered to 119? (yesterday it was still at 149?).

The linux kit at 119€ doesn't include the Sony keyboard and mouse anymore, i guess that's the reason of the lower price.
I just noticed that the shipping is included in the 119€, that's cool, but i think there won't be alot of kits to sell anymore...

They probably had too many people telling them they dont need to buy another set of usb keyboard and mice. Alot people already have a set or 2 of them. Its cool that they sell the discs and vga cord seperate for 25 euros. Thats not a bad deal. The only thing is if you have a VGA compatible screen that your not using available

They said they don't have anymore keyboards and mices to sell...
The vga cable is great to play in progressive scan too, and having replacement DVDs can be useful...
