i have a v12 overheating. looks like the fan speed is a little too low as game will lock up after 20min playing. when i add an usb fan (designed for slim ps2) the ps2 worked just fine. anyone here has experience playing with the fan?

im not sure, it may be a pin to pin resistance connection in the actual EE itself

Just connect it to a 5v or 12 source on the pstwo

(im not sure what v these are ment to be, prolly 12 tops)

Not a good idea. I don't think that little fan runs on 12v.

    That's a PC. v1-10 fans ran on 5v-8v. 12v will burn them.

in v12, the fan gets voltage direct from 8.5v. the white wire from the fan connects to somewhere maybe cpu or fan control IC which is constantly monitored by a thermo sensor. the CPU or IC outputs PWM signal through the white wire telling the fan what speed it should run to efficiantly cool down the cpu. my question is where is the thermo sensor? if you disconnect the white wire , the fan will run at the max speed and it just runs as long as power is plugged in without even switching on the console.

at moment i have to give away a slimline usb external fan to my customer to fix this problem. i think the thermo sensor might be inside the cpu itself so there is no way we could replace/repair or
    mod it.
