Well I don't have a TV any more and was wondering if there was a way to convert my S-video plug to 15pin VGA and be able to use my monitor for it. I've alreadt tried an S-video - VGA converter, then use a 15pin gender changer on the VGA and it doesn't work. The S-video - VGA converter has male VGA so I had to use the gender changer in order to get the monitor to plug into it. But it doesn't work. Any ideas guys?

There are general component video to VGA adapters, like this:
    http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?cat...oducts_id=3166

Those will just upsample the signal, so don't expect any improvement in image detail. In fact, it's fairly common for people to describe these type of conversions as blurry or jaggy. You may be better advised to get yourself an inexpensive television.

There was at least one product that advertised that it could produce a higher resolution signal by patching the game in memory. But that company appears to have gone out of business, and the only user of that product (that I've seen) was unsuccessfully trying to get it to work.

That were (or used to be) Blaze VGA adapter. I think company is now named otherwise, but I might be wrong. The rumour is that Matrix Infinity has a support for Blaze VGA adapter that is in fact better, than the original Blaze CD.

I was also thinking this unit would be useful and better quality than a converter cable:

Using S-Video might give you a marginally better signal than component video, but the box will still have to upsample. $100 is a lot to spend on such a device when you can get a decent 15" TV for the sample price.

I need a TV too, but I plan on shelling out around $500 for a good one with HD.
Just wanted the versatility too of hookin it up to a VGA monitor, but originally wanted to do it without buying another lil converter module. But I like the versatility of that svideo.com module.

I hope it works out for you. Post back in this thread your impressions of the device, as I would be interested in one more data point.

S-Video to TV gives a lot better picture than most other options.

ofcourse HDMI/DVI is better, but can PS2 do that?

Not straight from the PS2, but if you have a reciever, a good one, it might have HDMI outs, I dunno for sure, don't have one.
