How Do You Sofmod A PS2 Fat Easily/ For Noobs?
How Do You Sofmod A PS2 Fat Easily/ For Noobs? –

Ok, so I've been searching for a while now, and I haven't come across any tutorial that clearly spells out how to softmod a PS2 fat model. I know of a Action Replay or something like that way to do it, but i don't have one and don't really want to buy one if I don't have to. Other than that, I haven't found a simple way to softmod my PS2. I'd like to be able to play backup games from a flash drive or hard drive and run homebrews on it after the mod. If you can point me to anything that would help me do this and understand how PS2 softmoding works would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Be nice to others on the forums or they won't be nice to you. So watch out!

I've looked around and I think I know how to use the FMCB method. I'm planning on getting a network adapter and a hard drive and know how to make the disc and swap it to create the save on the Sony memory card. Is that all i should need to do? Should I just be able to use hd loader to store and run my backups, or will I need anything else like a network configuration disc? Can I also use my computer to backup games and then transfer them to the hard drive and then play them, and if so, how is this done? I just want to make sure this is all going to work before I drop fifty bucks on this.

so far so good .

nope just HDLoader and you can also use OPL which is more compatible to games than HDL .
Can I also use my computer to backup games and then transfer them to the hard drive and then play them, and if so, how is this done?
yea it can be done via winHIIP 1.7.6 for Internal HDD and for external HDD you can use USBUTIL by ISEKO.
in short what do you need :
1- a compatible PS2 with FMCB you can check FMCB thread to know if its compatible or not .in your case PS2 Fat is compatible .
2- a network adapter if you want to use Internal HDD .or no need if you are gunna use External HDD .
3-Sony Genuine Memory Card .
4-any way to run Hombrew or Backups like a modchip or Swap Magic or Cheat Device like ARMax or Codebreaker or such some games like 007 etc .

You say that I need both a PS2 compatible with FMCB and a way to run homebrews. Isn't FMCB the way to run homebrews/ backups that I'm tryind to use? I just want to be clear. Also, can I get by without a network adapter if I use an external hard drive or even just a flash drive? I have also heard other people saying that external hard drives are slow and choppy, so is an internal my best choice? Since you say it is possible to move games from my computer to the internal/external hard drive I would install, how is this done? By connecting it directly to my computer, copying from another usb device like a flash drive to serve as an intermediate between my computer and my PS2's hard drive, or something else? Thank you for your patience, here's what I have/will get/think I need:
I have a fat PS2
I have a genuine Sony PS2 memory card
I will purchase a hard drive
I will only need a network adapter if I use a internal hard drive, otherwise I don't
I will purchase a game to use the FMCB (exploit?), however I cannot find a game that you can use without online play. Do you know of a list of games so I could check before having to buy one online?
And I think that's it. Any suggestions?

no i am saying you need away to run FMCB like i mentioned above via Modchip or cheat device in your Case you will need a game .
Games reported to work : quoted from sksapps site
*007 Agent under fire
007 from Russia with love
Demo Disc 066 [NTSC-U] [SCUS-97241],ROCKY.ELF (in rocky folder) [select "playground", there is a little video so press X to skip, then select "rocky". Press X and it gives you a controller diagram, SWAP here and then press X. uLaunchELF will start.]
Also, can I get by without a network adapter if I use an external hard drive or even just a flash drive? I have also heard other people saying that external hard drives are slow and choppy, so is an internal my best choice?
yea its but since OPL is out most of the games run fine no problem some of them none .the same case for HDL as well in Internal .and sure internal is the best choice but these days its hard to find a Network adapter .but if you can get it then its fine .
Since you say it is possible to move games from my computer to the internal/external hard drive I would install, how is this done? By connecting it directly to my computer, copying from another usb device like a flash drive to serve as an intermediate between my computer and my PS2's hard drive, or something else?
in case for External HDD its easy just plug the Ext.HDD to PC as long as its formatted to FAT32 and then you have to install games via USB Util by ISEKO
in case for internal HDD with Network Adapter here is the three ways you can do it
1-Internal IDE ribbon
2-USB to IDE Cable
3-USB removable drive Enclosure
here is more info SKS Apps - Exploit Systems - Wii Ps3 Ps2 Apps - Homebrew Game Downloads
the fastest methods are the first and 3rd one .
I will purchase a game to use the FMCB (exploit?), however I cannot find a game that you can use without online play. Do you know of a list of games so I could check before having to buy one online?
look my post above for compatible Games if you are still unable to get it .
we have a Free service for FMCB there are some Volunteer around the world in the FMCB Official thread they can install it for you for free all you have to pay the postage in both ways .
and that is another good option for you .
