How do you know when your network adaptor is dead? –
I used to use my network adaptor all the time for online gaming. I was even playing DNAS-enabled games using backups (with my DMS3 modchip) back when DNAS first came about. For about the last two years (maybe a little less), I've been using HDLoader. I heard a lot when HDLoader first came out about how it disabled your NA, so when I couldn't play my games online anymore I didn't think much of it.
Recently (like in the last couple of months), my modchip stopped working, so I've been using my PS2 with the modchip disabled. I occasionally I play original pressed games, and I boot all of my homebrew (including HDLoader) off a memory card using PS2Menu or LaunchELF. I tried using my network adaptor (for playing originals online or streaming movies off my computer with PS2Reality Media Player), but my network adaptor seems like it is disabled.
I've tried connecting my NA to my wireless Netgear router using a wireless game adapter. I've also tried connecting it to my router using an ethernet cable. No matter what I try, the router just does not detect the NA. When I try to run network configuration, it can never locate my network.
Is my network adaptor dead? I'm not sure if it should be working or not when I use HDLoader, but shouldn't it work when I'm playing originals with my modchip turned off? Could my malfunctioning modchip be causing problems with my NA? It's probably also important to note that even though I can't get my home network to recognize my NA, the hard drive I have connected to my NA is working PERFECTLY, and I can play games and load movies and homebrew with no problems whatsoever.
