I'm finding myself being obligated to try to explain to layman, how and why
ps2's are what they are, and how and why they do what they do, more and more.
So I'm going to try, in a very simplified and generalised way, explain this,
here. This was actually explained straight to me, from the horse's ass, the
almighty SONY, when I was baited with a bios (Sony will happily give you a
bios dump, if you ask, and provide the serial number from your console as
"proof of ownership" of it, and it's bios... but it's a trap) and labeled a
"registered private playstation software developer", wherein they list you as
knowing damn well better tham to be selling "warez", and such, but they end
that with "except of course, to US" and they do actually have this list of
someones that they will actually accept any "masterdisc submission for
review", meaning that that door is opened. I'm sure they get bozillions of
crackpot-sent whatevers and likely have a "special department" for those,
right next to the dumpster. They will even sell me a DTL-H machine, for an
outrageous sum that I think actually represents what they think each of us is
worth, in terms of profit from sales of original software, in our lifetimes.
Sort of "if you want one bad enough to pay us out what we think you are worth
in games, over your lifetime, we will happily sell you one that will LEGALLY
play anything you can burn, with the right to burn away all you want to" like,
but that's getting a bit off track, the point is, they basicly explained their
trip, as well, I offer you this background so that you can grasp that even
though I don't know much more, and I'm in over my head if compared to say,
D'lnor, but this concept I will try to put simply, comes from, well, the
horse's ass, I'm certainly NOT guessing about anything, and I'm trying to make
it real and understandable for you.

First, and let me say in advance that I'm going to use some technical
expressions as relative generalizations, like this exaple, the relationship
between voltage and amperage is like a water hose: voltage is the pressure in
the hose, how fast the water shoots out, while amperage is the diameter of the
hose, how much can flow through it, now picture a firehose trickling, and a
garden hose blasting, yet both fill an equal size bucket in the same time,
this factor represents "wattage", or the actual measure of the current that an
appliance actually needs needs. Understand that you will not get wet if you
grab both wires that plug into the wall outlet, the comparison is general and
not meant like actually, right? just to give you a mental picture that sort of
relates, or at least that relates relatively "a is to b, as m is to n" but
that doesnt mean you can spell "ass", "m-s-s", Im going to use some more
difficult to distinguish terms, that are more similar and can be misunderstood
if we dont have this clear. Starting with this line:

First, I have to explain for you that there are 2 fundamentally different
kinds machines, there are computers, and then there are players, and although
they are animals that you can keep as pets, they are cats and dogs, you can't
breed them together, they are different in every other way.

Lets start with a "player" like in music cd, or video dvd. This class of
machines is like "dumb". These rely on a core processor called an "IOP", or
"input-output" processor: read from disc=show on screen or play to speakers.
Now I'm going to use one of those comparisons. First, think about how we
humans work, on different levels and speeds, there is "analog", if you will,
this is how we talk to each other, at one speed. Now lets use "digital": think
of it as the way we READ, which is far faster than the "analog" way we have to
talk to each other, or we'd all be "chipmonks", we simply cant talk or listen
that same speed that we think or read to ourselves. "Players", are BLIND, they
cannot read. To the IOP family, EVERYTHING is an "audio book", it has to be
read at an "analog" sort of speed. They do not stop if asp;d8gohap;sduhg they
just keep right on going with the next word, line, whatever. Now a computer,
on the other hand, is DEAF, they can't hear a cd or dvd at all. These machines
READ EVERYTHING, therefore cd's require special software to play on your
computer, and even the fastest of them seem to struggle to play dvd movies,
and are prone to fail at this, now and then. An IOP is a very difficult thing
for a computer to emulate. They have to have a written description of the
sound, and a timeline to play it back for us along, this is basicly the mp3
thing, sort of a written instruction for the computer, explaining how to
recreate for us, at an analog, the original music or video, where an audio cd
is more like an old black record, it spins at one speed, with the music
recorded in real time, just using 0's and 1's, or pits and valleys on the
disc, instead of the groves, in a long spiral line, but these are similar
enough. An mp3 on a cd, your computer actually will read in it's entirety, in
nanoseconds, then it plays the music for you, at the speed indicated by the
timeline code, from it's memory. This is why mp3 cd's dont skip like normal
cd's when you hit a bump in the road, they just sort of skip over a second or
two and chug along, sonding like it does when they take swear words out of
radio-played music, got that? I hope so... Now let's get to the playstation..

to be continued when I can type some more, this is a long one....

A toxic agent on a dangerous mission so secret, even I don't know what it is, because if I did, I would have to kill myself. I don't even know who's side I am on.
