Hot glue on a mobo
Is it bad to pile on the hot-glue onto a mobo? i mean, this is what you do to fix wires in their places right?
My question is, is it bad to pile loads of it on? wont it fry some stuff being hot and all? Like on top of those surface mount resisters, wont it hurt those? and on top of those black IC chips? wont it hurt those too?
and if you try to pull it off when you upgrade your mod in the future, wont it rip some stuff off with it?
My experience is that hot glue is ok. It's not conductive and it doesn't rip off any caps or resistors. And I use it to secure modchips and wires down to the mobo.
I was really surprised to see all the install pics using hot glue. I would have thought that the heat would damage the components.
Hot glue is not "that" hot, and if you want to remove the glue, use a swab and dip it in rubbing alcohol and wipe it around the glue, give it 10 secs and you can easier take out the glue.
