There are enough (probably completely working maybe sans the disc drive in some cases) working PS2's here to build a house And I think they're all being recycled! , or maybe I misinterpreted the Google translation, it actually seems like they're saving the PS2's from being recycled, I hope that's the case for goodness sake!

    http://blog.livedoor.jp/ohata_shoji/...at_652278.html

These should all go to good homes of people in the Xscene community

If there's anybody in Japan, it would be cool if you could save these PS2's

Damn, I'd love to steal one of those Saturns off their hands, never got the chance to play one of those.

The GameStation I bought my PS2 slim and PS1 from recently was like that at the back, piled from floor to ceiling used PS1 and PS2 consoles. They said they were sending them all off to headquarters.

Probably to be destroyed...I'm glad I gave a home to a PS1 and PS2. In fact I've just been playin' on the PS1 just now.

I currently have in my possession now 1x PS2 slim 2x PS2 Phat.

Alright, not to hijack my own thread, and I'ma post this in the other parts of this forum, but I found an ebay auction for 9 (now eight :wink EXTERNAL OFFICIAL SONY HDD's! FOR $20!!!

That's right, $33 shipped for me for an item that usually goes for at least a $100.

Here ya go peeps: Sony PS2 Development Dev Tool DTL-H20400 40GB Drive NEW - eBay (item 160494536957 end time Nov-15-10 10:46:47 PST)

And contrary to what the auction listing dude says, you CAN use this for a standard JAP SCPH-10000 series (15000,18000 too) simply by updating the firmware w/ a BB Navi disc

Back to my main post though, I swear to god I would sell my PS3, XBox 360, N64, and maybe even my drumset to get those PS2's, this is just insane. Anybody who reads Japanese could you please tell us what this page is about? And again, hopefully a Japanese fellow PSXer could maybe help salvage these beauties!

OK UPDATE!!! It looks like instead of recycling these PS2's, the guy is actually saving them I hope so anyways Or else lol, seriously.

Smiley overload, excuse that, but really.

Here's the Google translated page, please read it and share your own inference as well

I want it..! But there's no way I can get it without a Paypal account (I don't have a credit card either) and a EBay account.

Not to mention that the PCMCIA adaptor isn't included (And is almost impossible to get outside Japan).

    Me neither.
Most of those consoles still look as if they're still in good condition.

Thinking about it... there are so many of those models of Playstation 2 consoles there that are considered "rare" (SCPH-1x000 consoles) over there....

It was only by some luck that I managed to find and acquire my SCPH-10000 console, along with most of it's original Japanese accessories (In almost mint condition too....).

Agreed. But there's no such thing as a firmware upgrade (Neither is one needed).
The update on the BB NAV disc doesn't update the firmware, but it patches the EE's kernel in RAM.

OPL can run on SCPH-10000, SCPH-15000 and SCPH-18000 consoles with this HDD unit, because OPL patches the kernel in EE RAM (Once you reset/power off the console, the kernel "returns back "to it's buggy state).

NOTE TO USERS WHO PLAN TO BUY THAT ITEM!! IT'S MISSING IT ACCOMPANYING PCMCIA ADAPTOR (SCPH-10190, or it's development equivalent)!!

Well there's always eBay and import sites, glad I ordered me one of these though now If you want, maybe I can order one for you if you can pay me the difference somehow? PM if you want.

What seems to be the case is that this guy *IS NOT RECYCLING THE PS2's!!* It seems that he is actually saving and recycling them in the sense of reusing them and/or selling them B) I posted a translated version of that page a few posts down. He would be areal dumb ass to recycling them, but it seems that's not the case B)
