The Troubleshooting Guide explains the interaction between media and laser especially in v7.

Thanks for the reply charlie...I've read the guide now...I would have thought a brand new ps2 would be ok with verbatims ?

Sorry for the ignorance ...I gather I need to adjust the laser..is it just a matter of tweaking the dvd pot and the angle adjustment screw....?
is there a certain way to turn them....ie left or right?
will this adjustment cure the skipping 100%...?

    Thanks for any help mate.

    Hi...I originally posted

    "I've just installed an m2pro f1.30 in a gh022 v7 board ...
All formats /backups work ok except ps2 dvd back-up...its taking a long time to load and keeps skipping on fmv and audio...?
    verbatim dvd recorded with prassi.
    The ps2 is brand new?"

After reading "shdowKnyght" laser repair section, I managed to cure the skipping...in particular the adjustment of the dvd pot...measured before it wa 900 after adjusment down to 750.

After this all played ok with no audio or fmv skips.

Have read that this may have shortened the life of the laser...is this true...ifso by how much...?

Excellent guide ...thanks to all who contributed

    Sunny.
