ALRIGHT. im so damn sick of games being so expensive and i KNOW im not the only one. the cost of just 2 new games is equal to about your gas, electric and water bills combined.

a friend and i ran some figures and came up with this:
for a game like GTA, if NOBODY bought the game for just the first month from just one major retailer, that would account for about 5,850,000... thats 5 million, 8 hundred 50 thousand dollars for just ONE game for just ONE month from just ONE retailer.

those figures dont count all the other games that are sold, thats just one title. so we are trying to get as many people to buy as few games as possible for as long as it takes for the game prices to drop.

also, we would like for as many people as possible to get a hold of SCEA (or SCEE, wherever you may be) and demand a drop in game prices.

i understand that people need their games (im a game freak as well), so we're not asking that everyone gives up buying all games forever...
we simply ask that as many people buy as FEW games as possible (especially the expensive ones) until game prices begin to drop.

I agree Sony should drop the prices, 54 bucks is too expensive for me, i have Jen and bills and school to pay. Buy the time i have money to buy the games i could of rented and flipped it. That is if Blockbuster or Hollywood has it.
If the prices were lower then more game would be brought.
2 games equals my cell phone bill, 3 games equals my cell and water bill. 4 games equals 1/4 of my rent.

Most gamers only own like 6 or 7 ps2 games. 7 games at 54.36 each.. thats $380.52 the price of four games equalls the prices of the PS2! that just aint right! and the Controllers are almost the same price of the game.
Datel sells Ar2 max for 30-40 bucks and it's not even a dvd! and it has the dongle still! WTF!.

    remeber Nintendo back in 89'?
i can get 5 nintendo games for the price of 2 ps2 games at orignal price.

lol... I think a game costs much more than $5 to make. Do you think all of the programmers and developers work for free?

Yup,... but today's games are a heck of a lot more expensive to develop than old snes games. In fact, I wouldn't even compare the two.

I'd have absolutely no idea what it would cost to develop and sell a game, but there are a ton of factors to take into account: developing/testing, programming, advertising, packaging, etc.

*LOL* Put your hand up if you think SCEA gives a flying rat's ass what the ps2-scene thinks about its' prices!

Sony is making money. It's in the business of making money. And it employs a tonne of people and contractors. Good luck presenting a business case to Sony that could convince them to drop their pricing. They would do so only if Microsoft did it first (ie, the ongoing console price wars)... not because you, I, and the rest of us say so.

Yes everyone, be sure to start the boycott when the new GTA comes out. Not so that it will make sure that there is a copy for me to buy, just so Sony will get our message

The average price for ps2 game in the uk is £30 thats pretty much the usual price - a few retailers rip people off, but they would do that if the other shops sold for £40 anyway (socom2 was £10 more w/headset in one store then the store next to it for example)

Last time I compared, ps2 games were usually cheaper then xbox and GC in the uk
