    I have a V10 with a fried HD7 laser... I dont have new HD7 laser but then i have some KHS-400C lasers. but when i install the KHS-400C drive the PS13 fuse burns.

    Cant the 400C run in a V10 thats born with a HD7???
    What to i have to do for the 400c doent frie the PS13 fuse.

    sould i solder somthing on the board or what?
    Plez help

    From what I understand you have to reprogram some chip inside, maybe an eeprom or something, to make the 400c laser work. Pretty much not possible on most versions, although I saw some people saying they were able to do it with a few special version 5 ps2's.

    I wouldn't try it anymore, you will probably just end up ruining something more than just the fuse.

    Up till now I have never ruined anything on the board with changing a HD7 with 400c except that the new laser (400c) did not work. Unfortunatelly there has not been a real proof of swapping these two lasers, except in V5, with a few limitations (settings in bios do not work anymore, etc) So with V9 and V10, I do not think that works. HD7 is hard to find (here at least), and as seems they burn out faster and easier than Sony lasers, so when you have such a board, it's hard to suggest anything except trying to get a new HD7 and using it.

    there was changing eeproms but in v9 v10 the eepom is integraded into the cd/dvd chip

    okay damn! well its the whole drive thats from a V9 not just the laser.
    but its only the laser that it cant work with right?
    because i dont have a drive from a v10

    Yes the problem is the laser only. The drive is the same.
