Has Sony ever banned people from their online network?

Hi

Has Sony ever banned psp and/or ps2 users playing backed up copies (modchip,swapmod etc) from their online network? And do you think they will ban people from their ps3 network? Or do you think they will just release a newer firmware just like they do with the psp?

I have yet to. I have been kicked off for enabling cheats but went back on after disabling them.

you can get banned from servers for things e.g if you cheat on SWBF2 on some servers you get banned

no as long as you patch them they cant tell

What do you mean with that? The reason I'm asking this is because I have to choose between a ps3 and 360. The 360 is scaring me off because when people played backed-up games on the original xbox,they got banned from live. So if no one got banned from the ps2 network, there is a bigger chance than the 360 to not get banned from the online network. So I've never had a ps2. Thanks for the quick response

why even play on Live? Use X-link Kia and play for free. I play my Xbox on there with friends. Have hosted a 16 player game of Halo 2 on my 1.5Mb DSL. Works great.

I'm hoping to be able to do the same for my PS3 when I get one 4 years from now. I ain't rich ya know.
