Has anyone come across this controller problem? –
I've got a V7 PS2 with a Matrix Infinity, the console has been working well for a few months now but just the other day the dual shock 2 controller seems to have gotten some of its buttons "Stuck" somehow. What happens is, every time the console boots, it goes straight to the MI configuration menu which leads me to believe that at least the triangle and circle buttons are stuck in an on position. The buttons themselves are physically fine.
Unplugging the controller allowed the console to boot normally, and after this I started a game for testing and saw that only the analog sticks, the select and start button and the analog button work. All of the other don't do anything including the D-pad.
The problem is the same on both ports.
The tricky thing is that I've only got 1 controller so I can't figure out if the problem lies there or on the console. I've tried fiddling a bit with the ribbon cable that goes from the port daughterboard to the main board but that didn't help. I don't want to go out and buy a new controller only to find out the old one was working fine.
u can get a controller from wal-mart and return it after u test it. or try flash a new firmware for ur chip (im not a pro at modchips though).
yeah, i don't have a modchip eiher but....
that seriously sounds like a phyisical problem with your controller. did you poor some soda pop on it? you know get all excited playing games and throw it in the fish tank?
J/K, but you should find someone else with a ps2 if you are that afraid of buying a new controller. personally i have 5 for some stupid reason, and even though i keep giving them away they always seem to return....
