What version is your ps2? Is it a fatty ps2 or one of those slim ones. If it's a fatty you are in luck. You need a network adapter. You can either use a modchip with dev1 like the Matrix Infinity or Modbo. Or you can use the exploit method. The only bad thing about the exploit method is that you can't play backup games from a dvd if they don't work from hdloader. Since only a handful of games don't work with HDLoader it wouldn't be much of a problem. But if you are looking for something to do i'd say chip it.

    2x8MB Sony Memory Card
    Network Adapter + 250GB HDD

Actually mine isnt chipped and i play backups all the time. Thanks to the swap method. And ive seen places that YOU CAN use a "internal" hd with a slim. You have to do alot of modding. Its not INSIDE of the slim. But it is connected inside of it. Hard to explain but works alot better than an external one.

this is a model number SCPH -30001 I think it's fat has an expansion bay about the size of a disk drive with a slot just above that for what I have no idea is it where you can insert a disk drive and what kind of slot is that called? and why does it say MagicGate above the memory card slots? On the front there is a blue square that has 2 usb slots and an S400 slot I think for a camera. if you've seen my other posts for a netmate 2 adapter the link to the site is there, to get the drivers for the pc and to see what it looks like.

That slot above the expansion bay is for the network adapter

Magicgate is just the name of the memory card technology. You don't need to worry about it

You will need the original sony network adapter to use a hard drive

This what the network adapter looks like. You plug you hard drive into the network adapter and then plug the network adapter into your ps2.

Not to threadjack, but I have a Matrix Infinity chip already installed and a spare hard drive. I know how to physically install it, but how do I set up the software to run games from the hard drive?
