Guide to takeing apart ps2 slim?
Guide to takeing apart ps2 slim? –
I'm completely new to ps2 modding. I've been searching for a good guide to dismantleing the ps2 slim-line but I haven't been able to find one yet. If anyone could point me in the right direction, that'd be awesome.
I'll be more specific. I'm haveing trouble removeing the heat shielding on the mobo. There are these 4 little screws that I just can't turn. I've been looking for a glasses screwdriver or something small, but I just can't find anything. Is there a trick to this?
They should come straight out . Don't use a screwdriver that's too big for the job as all you will succeed in doing is butchering the screw heads and then you will have trouble. There is a screw that is hidden under the laser. You have to take the laser block off first to get to it. They shouldn't take much force to remove so get yourself the right size screwdriver for the job or risk stuffing the screw heads up. Hope this helps . Cheers
I..Um...managed to "butcher" a screw head... Any advice? right now I'm looking for some really small needle nosed plyers.
Ok , the first thing to do is not panic. How many screws have you butchered ? Have you got a cordless drill ?
I screwed up just one. I do have a cordless drill.
Thats good . What you want to try and do is drill the head off the screw. You will have to be careful but you shouldn't have any trouble if you go steady. Once you have drilled the head off you can pull it apart and then removal of the rest of the screw will be easy.Use a drill bit that is about the size of the screw head itself or slightly bigger. drill down slowly until the head comes off. If you have any questions let me know. Cheers
emphasis on slowly - you dont want to be drilling through the metal plate and pcb
What do you mean "drill the head off the screw"? Are you talking about useing a drill bit and going right through the screw? Is that going to... hurt anything...?
