Since nobody posted in my Whatll happen if i put my HDD into my PC thread I figured id try it. haha little did I know.

I open my PCs case while its running and go to the Safely Add Hardware Menu. I run through the wizard and get to the end part where it says 'Insert Hardware Now' so I get down and take my Sony HDD and plug the ribbon cable into my Sony HDD. Then I go to the power. I take one of the power plug-ins (4 pronged) and try to connect it. Right as the tips of the metal prongs got near the slot it sparked this big ass spark into my face and I screamed like a bitch. It shuts down my computer and I go to turn it back on but I can't. Would have took me hours to figure out the unplug the cord part if I hadn't have called my cousin and asked him what the **** was going on.

LOL. You don't need to do that to install a hd. Just turn off the computer and plug it in then turn it on again. Another mistake you made was share this story with us. Some of us will probably make fun of you or something.

I would think it would be pretty obvious that something like this would happen... Standard molex plugs do not ground before the live wires are attached so they are not hot pluggable!
