I just got my PS2 modded more or less solely so that I could play my PAL import copy of Forbidden Siren 2, and the game is working but there is a serious problem. Gameplay and video are fine, but whenever there is a skippable cutscene, if I do not skip it the game will invariably freeze at some point during the scene. It will also freeze during the lead-up to the title screen if I do not press start immediately to get to the menu. Oddly enough, if there is a cutscene in the middle of a level that I can not skip, then it will play this without any problems (so far, at least).

These results are better than what I got when I tried to emulate the game in that at least now I can get past the first level and the game may even be beatable as it is, but if I have to skip so many cutscenes I am going to miss out on a lot of the story and atmosphere.

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? By the way, the settings in my chip menu are as follows:

    PS2 Screen Fix: PAL60
    Y Screen Fix: AUTO
    PSX Screen Fix: ON
    PSX Multi Disk: ON
    MC16 Patch: OFF
    ATAD Auto Patch: OFF
    Macrovision Fix: OFF
    Green Fix: OFF
    DVDVideo Region: 1
    DVD9 DL Support: ON
    Boot Mode: AUTO
    Pad Detect Time: 2
    Boot Logo: OFF

I have no idea if this is relevant or not, but apparently Siren 2 is also a dual layer disc.

i was going to say turn on the dvd9 support but you have already done that, the only thing i can suggest is to check the disc for any scratches, ps2 lasers are very sensitive, i had a resident evil outbreak disc that used to freeze all the time and i professionally cleaned it and it still froze, also because the ps2 laser is so old now i think it will have a hard time playing dual layered games especially if you play a lot of burnt games on it.

i would also suggest you update the modchips firmware if you have a clone then be very careful with what update you use because it will fry your modchip and render it useless.

there is also another alternative, rip the disc to your computer and rebuild the iso for dvd 5 there are still a few guides out there that show you how to do this so try that if all else fails and good luck, hope this all helped.
