flashing screen with psx games on hdtv

i just got an hdtv and when i play psx games on my ps2 the screen keeps flashing between the psx logo and the game screen it happens with both my unmodded ps2 and my matrix infinity chipped ps2 anyone know how to fix it?

the games play fine on my regular tv

ps2 games and dvd movies play fine

Are you using Component Cables?

If so, go to the System Configuration > Component Video Out > YCb/Pb Cr/Pr is what you want to use.

it seems to be a prob with my mad catz cable because the yellow red and white cable work fine so i ordered the sony component cable so that should fix my problem
