I've looked around in several forums (including this one) but can't seem to find a definitive answer. What I want to know is if ffxi/hd will work with a v7 modded with a messiah 2... Any help would be appreciated, TIA.

Or better yet, will FFXI work with a 3rd party 120 mb 3rd party drive?

I've already asked that and was given a fairly detailed reply. Apparently the $ony hd has some kind of firmware that can't be replicated and transferred to a 3rd party hd...yet. Anyways, I'm not holding my breath on this as $ony has much more power to prevent any bypasses that may be created through installing updates that search for that sort of thing.

FFXI on a moded PS2 ? Should work as long you can disable your mod during the install. FFXI is not really the worry. The worry is the host software, the PlayOnline viewer, which handle all the network and security.

It's install disc requires a DNAS auth, to install games and other expansions on PlayOnline it does DNAS auths ... But I even happened to play FXI with the modchip on and never had been caught ... I'm pretty sure they can find your chip if you try to install it while the chip is on ...

Patching the POL viewer doesn't work because once a month it's updated and all the security layer is rewritten on the HDD.
