I have Panasonic HDC-TM700 to shoot videos in MTS format. With it I was able to record my daughter's birthday party last Sunday. But yesterday my parents came and they hoped I can share the birthday party videos with them. Since I had a HDTV and I would like to share with my parents on it based on DLNA.

As we know, DLNA is a solution for us to make it come true that we can share songs, videos, or other Medias among all of home entertainment devices. I could easily show MTS videos on HDTV with the help of it.

And the problem was how to merge MTS videos into one with low loss of quality. When searching for effective solution, I happened to find Aunsoft Final Mate with which I could complete the process. I used Final Mate to merge the MTS files into one file which can be stored in my computer and showed on HDTV. There is less quality loss when merging MTS videos into one.

Below is the quick guide for you to show Panasonic HDC-TM700 MTS on HDTV based on DLNA.

Step 1. Guide MTS files into Final Mate for Windows.
Aunsoft Final Mate can detect automatically when the camcorder is connected to computer with the USB cable. Here I show the video on my PC.

Step 2. Merge MTS files into one.
Make sure the MTS files have been guided into project tab by drag and drop them to the time line to create a new project for lossless output. Before merging, you can also rename them to fit your preference.

Step 3. Set the path for outputting in Final Mate for Windows.
Click the “EXPORT” button and then you can find a dialog box. After setting the output path, click the "OK" button and then you can get the video file which is of less loss of quality.

Finally, I succeeded to watch the birthday party on HDTV through the DLNA.

What server do you use for DLNA? I just found one that works for my stuff (MKV, for example)... might work for your MTS as-is, using the VLC-based transcoding.

    It's TVMobili

Got it working on my Linux media server, plays movies and vids to my Samsung TV great. Not too bad to configure. Followed up with a 5 minute download/install/configure on a Windows box here. It just works and has a decent web interface (using the "dev" version). I haven't tried the transcoding, but I assume that if VLC Player can handle the format, TVMobili can transcode it for your playback device.

    At any rate... nice tut.
Working hard on UberCFW, incorporating NTFS, sub-free NetFlix and Blockbuster, PSN cheat system with built-in swearbot and MAC-spoofing, Adding MKV, RAM and BIK movie support, and Xbox360 emu*.

*not really. Get a life, newbs...

I suppose this may be quite interesting to others who want to do the same thing.
But what I can't understand is why it was posted in a PS2 specific forum...

There is no mention of anything PS2 related in any of the posts in this thread.
And the file formats discussed are not supported by any PS2 software either.

So what is the connection to PS2 matters supposed to be ?

    Best regards: dlanor

But you'd be more likely to find such DLNA information in a forum intended to deal with that topic, and thus having more people attending who share your interest in it. Here the main topic remains the PS2 consoles, and since they have no capability whatever for DLNA it is less likely that you will find relevant advice on that here.

Also, while the title of this subforum does contain the word 'General' in it, that word is also preceded by "PS2" and this really is intended as an indicator that all discussions in here should have some connection to these consoles, though that connection may sometimes be a bit vague.

For example, you might have suggested that people pool their knowledge to try to implement DLNA client/server software for the PS2, but you haven't even asked if any such software exists. All you have done is to discuss how the stuff is used on non-console equipment.

Don't get me wrong now, as I am not out to kill your thread or stifle your search for knowledge on the subject. What I am trying to do here is merely to twist the topic around to become something at least vaguely relevant to the purpose of these forums.

    Best regards: dlanor
