I think my DVD-ROM in my PS2 is ruined. (I have a topic in the "Hardware help" forum labeled "DVD-ROM clicking sound.")

So, if I were to get another drive from a friend out of another PS2, would it work? What I'm trying to get out is... Are PS2 dvd-rom drives all compatible with eachother?

what you are trying to do is ezy.. you just need to have the same version if you are just going to take the drive and swap them. If not then you wull need to see if the laser is the same type as your in your unit V1-5 400-b V7-9 are 400-C or hd-7 verson 400-c will work in any version but you wull have to use lenschanger .. 4000b is V1-5 only ..

    Thanks for the information, Crans.
