01-12-2004,05:45 AM
Having trouble with DVD movies.
Installed DMS3V9 on PS2v9, all games PS1, PS2 original and backup works fine.
Problem on DVD movies, Booting is ok, but picture freezes like every 2 minutes - then continues to play after about 5 seconds.
extremely annoing.....
Happen's on all DVD's.
Any suggestions ??

Are These original or bootlegged DVDs? DVD9s or DVD5s?
I'd probably think you may need a laser adjust, information found HERE.

Oh, and you may also need laser cleaning.
Also, try the DVDs with the chip OFF.

All DVD's original zone 2, PS2 is brand new used for like 10 hours, all DVD's tested before modd. working fine.
Firmware on DMS2 is 1.7

update to 1.8. I had a couple dvd-r freeze at certain points. I did another backup and it was ok, I think it was media related.

Tried upgrade firmware on DMS3 to v1.8. Still same problem. Found one strange thing, on upgrade screen - it said DMS3 hardware v2.0 fpga 3.9.
Is this a v2 chip or a v9 chip as I have ordered. On the chip board it is printed v9.

it is a v9 dms3 as dms3 2.0 doesn't work in a v9 unit. Things you should be looking for are a bridge on the scex connection, bios bridge or loose dvd controller wires. The dvd itself is the likely culprit although you state it is happening on all dvd movies - it might be a laser issue; try cleaning or adjusting (i realise its a new unit but sometimes sony is sloppy; make sure you've noted the initial setting BEFORE you do any adjustments).
