I have just aquired one of these debugging stations and all it does is turn on to a black screen. The drive tries to read any disc I put in it but nothing goes to the screen.

It looks like a very early version because it has ten screws and a normal case and not the usual TEST logo. I know it is genuine because of the stickers and the intact warranty seal.

Did this early version need a boot disc or memory card to operate?

Any help would be great before I have to remove the seal to diagnose further.

Did you ask the person got it from ? They should know more than anyone about that particular unit.

Or is that impossible because its "hot" ?

In got it cheap on eBay but thought that 'does not boot' meant a simple laser change.

I suspect it is an early model as it does not have the TEST logo on the top, It has ten screws instead of eight, and I cannot find any reference to models with the 'S' suffix.

Has anyone got any experience of this model?

S = usually has the save feature disabled (meaning no memory card access period)
