If your lucky its just one of the rails on the white cog that adjust that jumped up or moved, but I doubt it considering it plays psone but not ps2 and not the other way around.
Open it up and just have a look at the cog and rail,if its not that check the wires for the chip(If he has a chip).
It can be alot of things, what version is it?
i'm not sure of the version, and he definetly has no chip. thats currently all the info i have, would it matter what version it is?
Best bet would be the wite cog then,The version matters becouse the cog is a little bit different each time...
how big a drop waz it ?
and how the hell did he drop his ps2
tell him to take better care of it and cherish it, he wouldnt want to have to buy a shitty pstwo now would he ?

People drop there ps2's ophen about 1 in every 5 ps2's brought to my shop was dropped 3/5 has a dead laser and another 1/5 is some other small problem.
it can't be a dead laser because it still reads psx games
Yes it ccan be a dead laser,a laser has two laser diodes,no1 CD's and no2 is for DVD ,there both on the same laser lens that you see on your mechins,so yes it can be dead laser.
pffft people obviously dont take good enough care of their ps2'sOriginally Posted by fasman
which are hella better then the pstwos which fail all over the place
