Just got in a PS2 39002 that's been dropped from a reasonable height (kids tripped over the controller cable). I've had a look and the problem with it seems to be that the disc turns just a fraction but does not spin up normally when loading. Watching the drive mechanism with the top off there appears to be no mechanical damage as the sled raises and lowers correctly. Also the laser activates and also seems to be functioning O.K. This is something of a new one on me, just wondering if anyone else has come across symptoms like these.

    Thanks.

perhaps the bit connecting the wheel ting that the disc spins on to the motor has been bent? or obstructed in some way?

I beleive it is a fuse, but i'm not sure...I had the same exact problem, but I just got rid of mine for parts, and got me a newer ps2, but soon after I heard of a lot of others having the same problems and replacing a fuse fixed it I beleive...
