  1. #1 Is DNAS Permanent?
    fooniman Guest
I Went Online With POL Viewer JPN, and it was connecting to the servers, it then said DNAS at the bottom right corner of the screen, so i'm guessing it detected my modchip!
is DNAS Permanent? or Temporary? Will I Never Be Able To Go On Again?
I Think you had experience with this before, Bgnome.

I believe that it blacklists either your PS2 ID, Network Adapter ID or the ID of the software/username you choose or possably a combination of them all.

DNAS is required in all titles submitted to sony for the approval process. So DNAS is here to stay.

As I said in my post, some, possably all of your ID's are blacklisted, you'll need to replace at least one part of the equation, possably the NA or maybe if you are unlucky the PS2.

I think some titles, such as Everquest are simply blocking the user ID and a new copy and registration will sort you out, but that's just a guess and it's possable that you may hav eto replace more as I previously mentioned.

Not quite sure if it's a universal Blacklist, if it's not already then I imagine Sony may have plans on making it so

from what i understand, it kinda is a universal blacklist. you are incorrect about everquest, since the same disc, account number, etc. will still work on a different machine with the same network adapter. i am very sure that the Dynamic Network Authentication Server is a seperate server manged by SOE, which must authenticate the connection prior to passing it on to whatever server the game / disc actually uses. i used to have the IP and the name of the authentication server in the us and the port it connects through..

so if you are banned from using everquest, i am willing to bet you cant play ffxi with that machine. what i know for sure tho, is that changing the ps2 serial by 1/2 a byte or wiping the memcard will not work (firewire port is gone in the new models so i doubt that serial is used), but a different system with the same game disc, account number, and network adapter will work. at least when i was dealing with DNAS..

playonline will not have any control over DNAS. you need to contact SOE for that.
