DMS3 V4 install gone awry
Been installing a dms3 on my v4, got everything layed out and soldered, booted up.. black screen. Okay so I thought, I'll shield the d and e with a twisted pair with ground. So i did and i got video.... but it acted as if the chip wasnt there. So I opened it up, checked all my connections and shortened my ground wire. Still got video, but still treated the chip as if it wasnt there. So I got it open and looked around again, played with the ground wire and some of the connections. Booted it up again. BLACK SCREEN. And now the eject button doesnt work to eject the tray, but I can use it to power up the system. (but the tray doesnt come out) Also theres a big delay from holding the reset button down to put the system in standby until it actually goes into standby, about 3-4 seconds cant remember if thats how long it normally takes, seems long....
So I've been reading around and people seem to think this happens because one of the BA chips has blown or a fuse... I checked pin8 of the upper chip and theres no continuity with ground. The lower chip BA6664FM, I think does have continuity at pin8 but I've been doing a bit of research I think that might actually be normal for that chip. Theres a wiring diagram on the web that shows that pin as running to ground. I can't find any blown fuses, although I don't know where they all are on this version of the board.
I've tried a bunch of things to try to get it working again, including sheilding the C wire which I've heard runs to the eject mechanism.
Anyway, sorry for the long post I was just wondering if anyone had any idea whats going on with this install.
