dms3 v2 problems
I have just had a dms3 v2 professionaly installed on my v7 pal ps2. This ps2 had been chipped before hand (magic) and worked 100% in that every booted loaded in game loading.
Now i find with the dms installed that dvd games that used to work sometimes get either RSOD, DISC READ ERROR, LASER CLICKING or even sometimes some other strang things. This does not happen on every boot... it will boot successfully 6 or so times out of 10 attempts.
I have tried both the 1.3 and the 1.6c upgrade with the same story..
(ps2 CDR games seem to boot fine though?)
Anyone have any ideas? could/does the dms installation require the laser to be re calibrated? even though worked fine before hand?
Any ideas would be appreciated..
ok more info... pls help
everything works with the dms3 except i find that im having trouble with ps2 dvd backups (dvd-r especially) games are booting about 60% of time... other times it either, gives me RSOD, Gives me Unable to read disc, clicking, or other strange result. These dvd-r are all good media and have all worked fine on the same machine beforehand. With dvd+r i find that it boots at 90-100% of the time.
Now to test whether it was the laser i got a dvd-r backup movie and booted in ps2 mode(i now have 1.6c, these problems were same with 1.3) it recieved RSOD about 3 times in 7 boots. I tried the exact same movie with the dms in sleep mode and it booted perfectly every time (10 attempts)..... This leads me to the conclusion that when dms is on it is doing something to the laser that makes it struggle to read dvd-r.
Anyone have any ideas?
hmm...sounds like mostly lazer problems, i have had customers who have told me stories of their installer switching their stuff on them...and there nice new ps2 came back with a different drive, powerboard etc.;....one way to make sure it's not the dms3 causing the error, is to shut off the chip by pressing and holding eject for 1 second then putting in your dvd-r to see if you get clicking, of coarse it will rsod since the chip isn't patching
hey.. thanks for the fast reply!
Yeah i hope nothing has been switched..
Ummm yeah if you read the second paragraph of my initial statement i have actually tried the modchip in stealth with a backed up DVD-r Movie... it works 100%.... this same backed up dvd-r will get random RSOD when dms is on.
