    Dms3 v.1 review on a SCPH-30004 R PAL v.4 or v.5 (the one with a warning text on the backside/underneath).

I got my machine modded by a company since I don't have the proper skills
to do it my self and I don't have much knowledge in the ps2 technology either.
But maybe this information could be usefull for somebody.
My spelling might be wrong. Dont correct me, I've done my best
Images and review availible at http://home.swipnet.se/angel-youth/dms3/

I got it updated with software version 1.2. I haven't tried anything
    with any earlier version.

The first thing I did was to try to install the DMS3 Dev. Explorer.
I burned it to a cd-r with Nero (I tried with Alcohol 120% with the ps2 option but it
didn't work) and it said "Install failed". But when I removed my memory expension
(JOYTECH V.1.1 16 mb) and only used the original Sony 8mb memory the install was succes.
But when I tried to run the "Browser" it would reboot (I think) and jumped to the
ps2 menu where you can choose the ps2 browser or to configure the ps2.
Then I open the browser and then the memorycard, and there were three blue square icons
with the "corrupted data" as title (when I later tried to save during a game it wouldn't,
but after I'd removed the three blue icons it would save). The Dev. Mode was chooseable
by holding down the triangle both before and after I removed the icons and it worked both times.

I own the original games and movies, and theese are only backups.
I burned them using Nero at 1x speed and Disc At Once.

    Rips
Grand.Theft.Auto.Vice.City.DVDRIP.PAL.PS2-ConFuSiON - Works fine. It sounds a lot. Maybe because a bad rip/cd etc.
    Rocky_PS2-KALISTO - Works fine.
    Rygar_The_Legendary_Adventure_USA_PS2-KALISTO - Works fine.
    Mortal_Kombat-Deadly_Alliance_PAL_DVDRIP_PS2-DARKFORCE - Works fine.

    Original
State of emergency - Works fine.

    Other
PsReality MediaPlayer - Divx and mp3 worked fine, did not try xvid.
    Paradox Mp3Player - Works fine.

    DVD Movies Originals
Every Region 2 PAL works fine.
I tried one imported movie, "The name of the rose". It was all grey and white
before I had the chip installed, and it still was with the chip installed.
The movie has no region, it says on the back it works in every region.
I dont know if I need an RGB cable.

Special thanks to berti- (dog8me) and EnTiTyZ for helping me.
And thanks to the #Ps2newz@Efnet and www.ps2newz.net.

Yup, you need an RGB cable. Your television does not support NTSC.

Here's the tell tale screw to diferentiate between the v4 and v5.

Open the hdd bay and see if ya can see the screw in the attached pic. If so it's a v5 3000xR.

    NewYerk: A fix for you.

See the attached pic for the 'link' on the video chip. This is the colour mod (NOT RGB fix) for NTSC playback in COLOUR on PAL through RF/Composite output.

This is required regardless which modchip you use. RGB TV owners excepted-but you need the RGB fix for the green screen on DVD playback. only DMS3 and AR2 have software RGB fix. AFAIK.

This will fix NTSC games and DVD movies to run in colour PAL60.

(Yes the pic says V3, but the V4 has the SAME video chip and it absolutely works)
