DMS 3 vs. Messiah 2 Pro
DMS 3 vs. Messiah 2 Pro –
I've read alot on the fourms about how the Messiah 2 rules. I was planning on getting a premodded ps2 with a DMS 3, but now I'm rethinking it. The main reason I wanted a DMS 3 was because it can update by just burning a cd with the correct files. I don't care about the divx or mp3, cause once I get a dvd burner I won't need divx. My question is, what does the cd update when u stick the it in? Is it anything important or just extra crap that I won't need? Oh yea, and in your opinion is it worth getting a DMS 3?
on the upgrade side on a certain part of the chip is upgradable
dms3 v1 released with few minor bugs on boot up procedures,no v8 support, its was not possible to upgrade this part of the chip hence the dms3
the upgrade facility is more to do with mp3/divx side of it
I didnt really like the DMS3 that much at first... but i put a magic3.1 and a messiah2 in a project ps2 that would not verify ps1 games, and some ps2 games, with no results, but as soon as i put in a DMS3, it worked 100%.. now thats a good chip if you ask me.
My Messiah 2 Boots everything. I really like the upgrade feature in the DMS Chip though. That is the only reason I would buy it.
In my opinion, the DMS3 is a perfectly good chip in terms of current PS2 models and DMS3 feature set.
As for upgrades, Dust has it about right I reckon. We shall see whether or not a MS3 v3 will ever be necessary.
Of course Messiah 2 and other modchips are not currently upgradeable in any form by flash. It would not be difficult to modify Messiah 2 design for this purpose and were it to be done, it would be to support application features rather than major boot class functions.
