I know this is getting a bit off topic, but I have a couple of related, and very strange stories around this question, I too, was asked once, (how much they are worth) by another member in the UK, about how much one should cost (I gree, btw about $500 us) since he was interested in getting one. Now, since none had ever been known to be sold on ebay, or anywhere else, before, a PAL debugger, that is, I'd have said "good luck finding one, though", however: Get this, not 2 or 3 days prior, the member in Australia, to whom I'd long since sold my old DTL-H30003 to, had sent me an email, thanking me for coughing that up for the price i gave him (it was needing a lazer and a ribbon connector, I'd lost all interest in it by then, but he took great care of it, so it's happy to be down under), attached was a link to the only one that has ever been offered, for £350, but he noted that the seller was specific in only selling locally, in England. So I was able, when I answered that question for this other member in England, to send him that link, (and btw, £350 in Brittish Sterling note, is about $500 in USD, it was a fair price) with like 2 days left of a 7 day auction, and would you believe he said later, that the seller lived only a few minutes away from him? He bought it, too.. and that turned out to be wise, one more of these went up later, but the auction was stopped by ebay, on account of legal action taken by Sony, banning any sale of a debugger, forever, regardless of who legally owns it, they can take your right to sell one of these, anyway, and have done so.
But what do you suppose the odds of that are?
It sounds like too much to believe, but there are 2 other members here, one in Australia, and one in England who can confirm this one. Real life is always so much stranger than (believable) fiction.
Also, I got the DTL-H10000S almost for free, well, for that masterdisc patcher, actually, from the seller I bought my DTL-H30001 from, who had won the entire contents of the offices of 3DO at bankrupsy auction, desks, pencil sharpeners, soda machines, and all, as he said, and no clue what they were about, but he had kept one for himself, just because, but that he had yet to buy any games (fortunately, he now thought, since I'm sure he wont bother, now, not with that mdp I sent him, with an explanation of what he had, and what that did) and since the winner of that DTL-H1000S backed out, he gave me that one for almost nothing, shipping, basicly. I thought that was very cool of him.
But you know what he told me? There were about 25 more of these, still in the boxes, unopened, that did'nt legally belong to 3DO, and were'nt being sold. These were sent to them by Sony, in some lend/lease arrangement they had, and therefore still Sony's property. But Sony had not replied in any way to any of the number of contacts to them, about these, to come get them, so you know where those were the last time he saw them? In the dumpster. the office had a new tennant the next day, and HAD to be cleared out, and NOBODY there was willing to take Sony's property, and that's what happened to those.
It still makes me ill.
