I think we need to compile the following, where applicable:

PS2 Serial (full including country code FC, FB etc)

Chip type, Messiah, Matrix, DMS3 etc
    Chip firmware version, 1.31, 1.33, 1.8 etc

If this is a Messiah or Matrix chip, the Actel batch code, 0336 etc

Also the Messiah chip type, standard Messiah or Messiah+ (proasic version)

Could also include other info like.

How long the unit was working for or any other info on the dead unit.
    Regards

    Tim

just look posts above, does it mean that the v9 uk pal will not work with m2 pro properly? I've just ordered a m2 pro 1.33b, and unfortunately I also got a v9 uk ps2, I'm really afraid to go ahead now, cos I don't want it to be dead so soon, shall i change it to dms3 v9? any comments? thx.

Your best bet is to run the PS2 with A DVD-r Movie for a day or two before you chip it, or play a game such as Vice city that really pushes the PS2.

actually I've got this ps2 for about 5 days, and just running some eyetoy games and dancing games these days, but if I don't chip it, can I still run a DVD-r movie? may be I should borrow a Vice city to pushes it before I chip it.

Another thought about those dead ps2s, are they made in china or japan or somewhere else? do you guys think this also is a issue?
