I am using esr to run most of my game backups but some of them aren't patched so I have to use swap magic sometimes, the problem is that my swap magic dvd disc is in very poor condition. If I'll create a swap magic disc backup will it work as original one? If yes I could boot swap magic via esr and then run my old games?
nope.
you can copy the SLUS file, rename it swapmagic, and boot it from your usb stick. but you must use a retail high TOC ps2 game (cd for cd, dvd5 for dvd5 or dvd9 for dvd9) to "act" as swapmagic would for those games.
The method he described works also + he can swap with Video-DVDs or "Video-DVD-like discs (ESR)", without looking at the TOC.Quote:

There are certain games that won't work with ESR...and I can't find any type of good tutorial on how to install Swap Magic onto my mc. I tried running .elfs of SM off a USB key but they wouldn't load, the SM mains screen would flash and then be gone...

FMCB is an ELF launching program.....so is uLaunchELF.
Why would you waste a disc to boot swapmagic, when you can just run it from a USB stick with FMCB or uLaunchELF?
Simple copy that swapmagic.elf to your USB stick, boot up FMCB > uLanchELF and use FileBrowser to boot it from mass:

If you want to run SM.elf from your MC, just use uLaunchELF to copy/paste it from USB to MC.

I do, I do...I had SM as an option to run a SM elf and when picked in FMCB the screen would just turn black. I even ran it with a large TOC original game loaded and still...just a flicker. I've gotten much much farther through SM with the ESR patched one...why is it turning pink whenever I select Load and not showing me the swap screen?Quote:
