hi i need help urgently.

i was doing the ps2 case LED mod and i decided to be lazy and just connect the power for the LEDs directly to the back of the controller/memorycard sockets
and the ribbon for the sockets came out and a small clip came off. when i put it back together my ps2 wont read the memmory or it cant recognise the controllers sometimes. i think that i have damaged the ribbon cable because aone of the pins came off i think does anyone know how i can getround this problem and i dont realy want to buy a new ribbon cable for £5.00.

any help will be well apreciated.
ps.. is a ps1 ribbon cable the same or does it not have one.
