  1. #1 Controller Port Not Working!

First off, I have no electronic/technical skills, but the warranty is way past so I guess I'll have to fix it myself. I cleaned my PS2 Version 1 and afterwards neither controller port would work. Thinking the inside was wet I used a hairdryer and got the 2nd one to work but only for a few minutes. After taking it apart and looking for anything visibly wrong, I got the 2nd to work again but after I unplugged it, it went back to not working.

Is my PS fixable and if so is it something I could do myself???

What exactly do you mean by "I cleaned it"?? Is this a modded unit? Did you disassemble to clean it? If you did, you may have hosed the controller cable. Try reseating that ribbon.

I cleaned it with electronic cleaner. It was virtually untouched, had never been opened until a few days ago, I only cleaned the outside.

This may sound dumb but you didn't have it powered on when you sprayed it did you? Secondly, did you make sure that it was thoroughly dried before you turned it on?

Thirdly, why did you feel the need to spray contact cleaner into the controller ports in the first place? Do you eat on your console? lol

    Faulty controllers??

I didn't have it powered on, but if I recall, more than likely it was plugged-in.

And no, I turned it on a few minutes after I cleaned it, so I doubt it was thoroughly dry.

Actually it was electronic cleaner, I didn't try contact cleaner until later that day. But the whole cleaning action was compulsive, it wasn't not working, (besides not playin blue discs which it hasn't done in about a year even after sending it back and having it fixed) it just looked dusty so I figured it could use a cleaning.

I can't say for sure if it's the controller port, that just seems the most logical explanation to me, because I guarantee the controllers are perfectly fine.
