  1. #1 Connecting PS2 to Laptop to use LCD monitor?

Is this possible to do? Could i use something like this?

    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...100-007&depa=0

I'm wanting to setup my PS2 for use in my car when i'm going on trips so I or other ppl in the car can play etc. I think it would be cool to have the laptop in the car to watch movies/play some games, and even better if i could use the PS2 to play on the laptop LCD. I bet the frame rate is too slow or something to play games tho . Any ideas? If this doesn't work i'd like to get a decent sized LCD screen, like 10-15" that i can connect VGA cables(yellow/white/red) to. Any suggestions? thanks

i'm pretty sure you can. with other capture cards (i have a PCI one in my desktop) i can hook up a video cam to my decktop via VGA cables, i run the app that came with it, and it shows me the video feed from the camera. I'm guessing the camera takes video at 25fps .... LOL i just remembered, i used my PS2 to play on my desktop with the card, i think it might of worked but it came out a lil wierd, i will try it again to make sure tho.

Yeah you can do it any number of ways, from direct video capture cards (pcmcia in the case of a laptop) to NTSC->DV converters (via digital camcorder or other device).

The problem is, there is usually a processing delay involved in converting the video, which works out to be normally about 1 second, give or take .5s. The result is, depending on the game, can be the difference between trying to jump right after falling off a cliff or giving critters an automatic to-hit advantage over you.

Another possibility is to buy a tiny LCD monitor, most of them take 12v for use in cars.

would this work well u think?

i'm not putting it in the headrest, i will do a custom mount somewhere up front, i'm just wondering if the PS2 will work good with this screen, and aspec(sp?) ration? i'm gonna tie the PS2's audio to my HU to send the sound out to the speakers in my car, all i want to do is get the video on the LCD screen

I use this to play PS2 off my VGA computer monitor.

I think it would work with a laptop if it has video in?? You'd probably have to convert from vga to s-video. I don't know if laptops come with video in options.
    Also, you'd need a 110v output.

coo, yea it works through the PCI card in my desktop, but i think i'll just get a standalone small LCD for my car and just hook the PS2 video to it, then the audio to my head unit
