Greetings to you all...I'm somewhat new to this scene (no longer a newb, but not yet a pro), but have some experience with system hacking...recently I started looking into the way the PS2 goes about booting authentic PS2 material, and came out with some questions that need some answering before I can proceed...if any of you can help, it'll be greatly appreciated:
#1 - does the PS2 utilize the barcode on the back of the discs when authenticating media?
#2 - where can i obtain in-depth UMCDR documentation (source, notes, etc)
Thanks for all input

the UMCDR project was put to an end when another ps2 develper ripped the code in order to create his own format, completely incomptible with UMCDR, rendering it useless. Eventually this trickled into a modchip made by the origa brothers. The only other trace of UMCDR would be in datels action replay max evo which is also illegally using UMCDR to boot homebrew applications.
