Component video and Optical audio with PS2
Component video and Optical audio with PS2 –

Ok guys, this has likely been covered, but I couldn't find anything in the searches...
I like games like GTA or GT and maybe a few FTP's, does component REALLY make a big difference with the ps2?
(my tv is a 52 inch Hitachi Ultravision)
same question goes for audio, does using the optical really make a big difference when used over the analog?
I don't mean this in physical charts of sound quality or anything...I mean it in personal enjoyment, anyone running both and swear buy it?
If I do decide to do this, it'll be Monster cable's all the way

Progressive scan will look vastly superior on your television compared to interlaced. The downside is that not all games support it. Optical of course if going to give you much better sound, but only if you have a receiver and surround system to take advantage of it. Don't buy Monster cables either-they're overpriced and don't make any difference.

i don't know about the component output, but the optical out only makes difference during cut-scenes (pre-rendered movie scenes) on most of games if they say dolby digital. i haven't seen any game supporting 5.1 sounds during game play....talking about hypes that sony made
