Component cable, no display
Component cable, no display –
I just got a Madcatz component cable for the PS2 and I can't seem to get anything to display. I've gone into the System Settings and turned component output to the Y P one and the RGB one, still nothing.
Is there some trick to switching from s-video to component? Does it only work if I have a progressive scan game loaded?
Oh I guess I should also mention that it's a version7, NTSC.
Does your TV have component inputs? Have you switched your TV to the component input?
Yes, I have a projector that has component inputs. My DVD player uses component and works well. I have the projector set to component inputs, but I get nothing on the display.
Go to the system config section and make sure the component output is set to YP/BP/R and not RGB. And if you have a modded PS2, try disabling your chip.
Ahhhh ... disabling the chip. Yes I have a crystal chip. i was wondering where the system "saves" the configuration. Clearly not on the memory card but probly somewhere onboard.
you can change the setting in the regular ps2 browser
ya I did that originally but I did not disable the modchip.
So disable it, and post your results. I'm thinking about getting a CC1.1, but this doesn't look too good....
Well, I tried it again last night and I'm starting to think it's my projector, not the PS2 or modchip. I tried 2 PS2's last night hooked up directly to the component-in on the projector (I was going through a switched 5.1 receiver) and no dice.
According to the PS2 manual you have to use regular AV cables (s-vid or composite) to set the Component Video Output to Yb<blah> and save it before hooking up the component cables. So I did that, first disabling the modchip by holding the reset button until the blue eject button came on. After hooking up the MadCatz component cable still nothing gets displayed! I changed the date and time just to see if the changes stuck when I rebooted the system and yup, that works. So I'm stumped.
The 2 PS2's I tried, one is a Crystal and one is a Duo2SE. I could try an unmodded PS2 just to see if there's a difference but I doubt it. I still think that I'm missing something. Either the MadCatz cable is broken or I'm not setting up the PS2 right. My next step will be to goto friend's place and try my PS2 on his HDTV to see if it's my projector.
For the crystal, don't you have to tap the reset 6 times to go into hardware sleep mode to disable it? Try that...
