chip or laser...help please –

Hi
my lads ps2 is modded with a matrix infiniti clone and had a new laser fitted 2 months ago (slim silver)
today he turned it on and it never booted up straight away(unusual)
and when i pressed the on/off button to reboot it stayed lit up green(on) and would not turn off so i had to unplug the cable at back
now it only goes to the browser screen thing.
i was wondering ..have i disabled the chip or something or can the laser be duff after 2 months
thanks all

do you know if it had the v12 fix done
it sounds like it suffered a mechacon crash and if it doesnt have a laser fix added then I would say your laser is toast

well this happened to the first laser and the lad who fitted the new 1 said he never applied the fix 1st time an it did what u said.....so i assume it was applied second time

depends which one was applied, if it was just a diode fix or something, they are useless.
open lid and look at laser, does it look hazy, it should be clear and see through.

not too sure mate. it looks quite cleasr. If i get a new laser an fit it myself....how di i apply this fix thing or can it only be done by the chipper.. rendering this ps2 useless.
thanks for all your help matey

you need to open it and see what fix was applied, then search here for the different fixes.
you need either
the summones fix
the subzero fix
the comsoft fix
if its any other than that I would change it.
they need to be soldered in and if your not confident with that, take it to someone, to apply the fix shouldn't cost bugger all
but if this is the second laser its blown, I would definately check the fix b4 putting in another laser
cheers
