Cheat devices and backups on slim ps2?
Cheat devices and backups on slim ps2? –
I've noticed a few topics about this, but they either end up nowhere or somewhere that I can't understand.
I have a chipped slim ps2, with a DUO3. Action replay MAX and Cracked Codebreaker don't work with backups. Is there anyway to get these cheat devices to boot a backup?
Both cheat devices can be used, if you can play backups on your ps2, you can use backups of the cheatdevices just like the original discs. Plop in your cheatdevice disc, activate the codes you need, start the game and you will be asked to put in the game disc, if that´s done you're ready to play, have fun

I found a way to do it by mashing together several methods sice none were working for me by themselves. I thought I'd share it incase it works for anybody else.
I used elf-to-bin to make an image of uLaunch and load it off a cd. I renamed my codebreaker.elf to BOOT.elf and put it on a usb drive. I loaded uLaunch with the usb drive inserted and copied BOOT.elf to memory card. It takes up a lot of space, so make sure you backup your data elsewhere. Then I turned off the ps2. I then loaded any game backup (this is important, it won't boot without a game in there already) and as soon as I turned on the ps2 I held R1. After a few seconds of blank screen, Codebreaker booted. I selected my cheats and chose "Start Game". It asked me to insert the game and press X. The game was already in there so I just pressed X and the game loaded and the cheats work fine.
I hope this helps others. Thanks goes to drsmartshit_05 for his post in someone else's topic that taught me how to load stuff off of memory card.
