I'm having issues with both HDLoader and ESR. I'm using the "Noobies Package" from the download section.

Basically, selecting HDLoader causes it to go to the HDLoader logo screen where it says "Loading" and the screen freezes there. Nothing happens. The orange harddrive light indicator turns on for a moment and then shuts off. I'm using the official PS2 harddrive and I was able to access its contents from uLaunchELF and saw that the previous owner still had his FF11 and SOCOM 2 stuff on it.

I tried burning 2 different games (after patching them using ESR_disc_patcher_GUI_v0.24a) to a Memorex DVD-R using ImgBurn (first one on 4x speed, second one on 2x speed) and while ESR detects them as "PS2DVD" or something to that effect, but when I attempt to load the disc nothing happens. Black screen, and I have to reset the system.

Why is neither of these working for me? I feel like I've wasted money and time in trying to get this to work.

I would try OPL myself HDLoader is outdated and not as compatible as OPL

    http://psx-scene.com/forums/f150/ope...-v0-8-a-62141/

and about esr did you see any colors after you started disk if not then sounds like you either using low quality DVD or burned to fast or slow for your DVD type

if 16 try 8 if 8 try 4 usually 1/2 media type and best burning software is ImgBurn and it is free so google and and get it

When I tried "Disaster Report" thru ESR I did get a pink screen a couple of times. What is that all about?

    I'll check out OPL, thanks.

It was the debug colors you saw so your ps2 is trying to boot the game so maybe dirty laser eye if you are using good dvd

BTW Memorex sucks for PS2 games get Verbatim dvd they work the best for ps2 games better quality

The laser lens could be cleaned with a q-tip and isopropyl rubbing alcohol 70% or higher. Rub the eye gently until you get a mirror like finish. This method usually resolves the dirty lens problem. And yeah avoid using cheap brands of media. Verbatim or Sony yield to great burns.

Hmm ok I'll take a look. I've opened my PS2 up before, but I'll have to look at a tutorial to refresh my memory. And I found a 50-pack of Verbatim on Amazon for roughly $14. Not bad.

I got the Verbatim discs in and at a 2X burn I was able to get a game working, however the loading times are pretty long. My lens was really working on it. Would cleaning it solve the problem?

Are you using Verbatim DVD-R or DVD+R? It should be DVD-R burned at 4x. Also try to burn it in a different burner. If the slow loading continues, maybe the laser is beginning to show signs of age, and you should think about starting to use HDD, USB or LAN more often. I prefer HDD + OPL because i like to power up my PS2, choose a game in the list and play, no DVDs involved... oh, and because i don't remember the last time i backed up a game to a DVD

Yeah the only issue now is finding an IDE/USB cable or an enclosure. I have the 40GB official PS2 HDD.

I'm in a similar situation i believe i can't load my ESR'd game to play when i launch ESR and launch APP; i get a black screen and nothing happen. I'm trying to play it from a usb stick where i have installed FMCB.
Since i'm a newbie i will have to ask several questions:
1 - In which folder am i suposed to put my game (As of now i have put it in the APPS sub folder but i'm not certain that's the right place, just a guess )
2 - Should i put it in .ISO format or normal ? (I've put it "normal" as of now with patched file indeed)
Thanks for your inputs in advance
Note: i have used NOOBIE guide and the PS2 GAME SWAP TRICK from freemcboot dot info
