so my model number is SCPH-39010/N
and i had the little screw in the hdd tray.

    hmmm

i looked on the interent and found a few guides but they were giving me mixed messages..

one said if i have that one small screw, i have a v5/6 ps2.

    another said i could have a v5/6 or v7 ps2.

that really doesn't narrow it down very much for me.

    i'm goign to be installing a duo2se.

thnx in advance for you help,

    regards,

all v5s and up have the HDD screw, so you can't tell by that alone. My guess is a v8, which is the same thing as a v7.

yah i figured that's what it was by looking at the mobo in the install diagram.

    now my next question:

what happened to that thread that had pics of where to put the modchips?

i know to minimized distance cables of power and ground.

where would be a good place to put the duo 2 se on the v7/8 mobo?

the big yellow square look oh k in the pic i attached?

That should be ok.. I put my Duo2 closer to 5 (so I can ground it easier). And there's a wide open space right there with no components in the way..
