Without a Mod chip, is there any way to access files off of your ps2.

ex: Gamesaves, Screenshots, Downloads from pc to ps2 or p2 to pc?

    thx

Sharkport will allow you backup your memory card saves, and gameshark codes on you PC harddrice via usb cable. the sony BroudbandAdapter($40) or A USB LINKSYS t10/100 (the red/blue one)($14) will let you go play games online. You can get the BBA with the linux kit, and it comes with a Harddrive, that currently only runs linux.

dont bother with the linux kit, sounds like you're trying to link things from xbox to the ps2 and it doesnt work at all like that...

the hdd really doesnt do anything practical right now..

sharkport transfers savegames from yer memcard to the pc and vice versa, thats about it

and btw - media reading is basically as follows

v1 - cdr/dvdr (some cases of dvd+r but not likely)
v2 - cdr/dvdr (some cases of dvd+r but not likely)
    v3 - cdr/dvdr (some cases of dvdrw and dvd+r)
    v4 - cdr/dvdr (some cases of dvd+r)
    v5/6 - cdr/cdrw/dvdr/dvdrw/dvd+r/dvd+rw
    v7 - cdr/cdrw/dvdr/dvdrw/dvd+r/dvd+rw

but that all completely depends on the condition of your laser.

among them, cheap dvdxx media, dvdrw and cdr/cdrw kill the laser the most.

I beleive you people are confusing the shit out of him. Heres all you need to do guy...
    Get yourself a ps2.
Get yourself a cd burner, or dvd burner if you can afford it.
Goto the "Vendors" area on this site, and check out some Professional Mod Installers to install a chip for you.
Once you find somebody reliable and talk to him. Then you send your ps2 to them, they install the mod, and send it right back.

BTW: I'd refer Vietnamese (he did mine really quick), and as far as chip goes...It all depends on what you willing to pay. Magic 3.1 is alright, Messiah 2 a little better, and DMS3 is the best.
