My V5 machine is DMS3 moded
I know that ppl can use those non-official HD for PS2 under the explorer.

    Here I got few question:

1.What kind of HD can be use for a moded ps2, (eg. 3.5" Desktop HD, 2.5" laptop HD, Type: IDE, SCSI? ATA100, ATA133 or any other I dun know.)

2.Do I need the online adapter before I can install the HD, if not, what kind of cable is used, what is the name of the cable?

    3. How should I format the HD (eg. NTFS, FAT32, FAT?) Is any OS needed in the HD?

from what i understand, it needs to be a desktop-type 3.5" IDE hdd and you require the network adapter because it hase the IDE connector and the MOLEX power plug on it. i am unaware of any adapter/cable that circumvents this.
you can use the tool at www.dms3.com to format the drive. if you want to learn how to get emulators like pgen to work with it, you should check out the readme at http://pgen.gamebase.ca
this method of using the hdd will not work with retail games that support the sony hdd.

Accually, many of the harddrive using ps2 games have patches to work with non-sony drives by patching the ata routines.

Take a look around for them.
Oh-- and by the way. I'd be somewhat wary of using hdd patches on DNAS using games.

if you want to mkae use of your hdd for dms purposes, just download DMS explorer mode 2 (HDD explorer). this will format your drive, and install the exporer, as well as some other utiluties including the latest version of pgen .
