Can i load freemcboot to MC using a memory card adapter?
Can i load freemcboot to MC using a memory card adapter? –

After hours of learning about softmodding a PS2 fat I realize that I'm very unclear about all the info everywhere.
Correct me if im wrong, but I have concluded the easiest and cheapest way is to load freemcboot to a PS2 MC.
If that proves true, is it possible to load using a device such as a PS1/PS2 MC to PS3 adapter?
Maybe loading the file from the JB PS3 or from a computer using the adapter?
If possible, is there something special I need to look for when purchasing the adapter.
Now, I'm aware of loading from a modded PS2 but unfortunately I dont have access to one.
Also, I know of the free volunteers but Im looking for alternative and DIY methods not requiring the purchase of extra disks or swapping.
On another note, I'm unclear if I play my PS1 backups on the softmodded PS2
what would I need to do that?

All good questions, i tried this also about 8 months ago, lots of videos on that well known site but all seem to require hardware in the first instance.
unfortunately HrbVndr, i don't have the solution myself and so I'll follow this thread with interest too.

It is true, you can install FMCB with the PS2-MC-Adapter for PS3 on your PC...
But take care, it must be the original adapter from sony. clone-adapters donīt work...
Without swapping the only way is with a chiped PS2.
With swapping you can manage it with an compatible retail game or DEMO-DVD too.....
And for your PS1-backups you need to swap, or you need ffgrieverīs PS2PSXe....

I donīt want to steal your hope, i hope for you it works, cause i read in your link.....
Sony branded PS3 memory card adapter for PS2 memorycards.
"Sony branded" does not mean that is original......
And do you read what do you buy??
Ships with the unit only, does not come with a usb cable or the original packaging.
Tell me what will you do with the adapter without its usb-cable??

yes i read what I buy –

I assume that it is original because it is branded "Sony" ..also because it looks the same as the originals
the brand new and original ones don't come with cables either
you supposed to use the cable that is used to charge the PS3 controller
in the unfortunate event it is a knockoff, i will have to deal with clawing it back then
but i definately rolled the dice on a $10 used ebay vs $30+ new item
but assumtions of quality purchase aside..... has anyone ever tried this method before?
is there any software or special instruction needed?
if no one has tried before, I guess I shall be the guinnea pig
